Text:

Voices have been raised in praise of the skill and talent of Charimmos of Lakadaimonias.  His ability with the rapier has impressed all who have watched him.  His opponents respect him and praise his honor on the field.  We Aiden and Hanna, Baron and Baroness of Tirydon hear the praise.  Therefore We induct Charimmos of Lakadaimonias into Our Order of the Winged Sea Monkey for his prowess on the rapier field.  Done this 18th day of March AS LI at Bacon Wars III.

The inspiration for this scroll came from the Pontifical, Title page of the Liturgy of St Basil, Walters Manuscript W.536, fol. 30r as seen below.  It is currently in the Walters Art Museum and can be seen at this link  https://www.flickr.com/photos/medmss/8102723652/in/album-72157631805515738/Pontifical, Title page of the Liturgy of St Basil, Walters Manuscript W.536, fol. 30r

It was personalized by adding the badge of the award in shield area and gold Fins (a dolphin, which is a part of the Barony of Tirydon’s heraldry, normally red in color) replace the flowers that surround the shield.  The main colors were also changed from purple and gold to blue and gold, to further match the heraldry of the area.

The scroll was completed on pergamenata paper and painted with Talens Plakkaatvere Gouache Deep Red, Ultramarine Deep, Deep gold, Windsor Newton Zinc White, Pro Art Watercolors Deep Green, as well as self mixed yellow ochre.  The ink was oak gall ink that was made and given to me by Leofric of Oxenford.
